Wipeout Beach is a sandy beach south of Children’s Pool Beach along Coast Boulevard in La Jolla. Above the beach is Cuvier Park which has a popular place for weddings called The Wedding Bowl.
In the winter the sand at Wipeout Beach can get ripped away by storms leaving a rugged bluff that must be scrambled down from to reach the lowered sand level. At low tide there is more sand to enjoy and tide pools and caves in the rocks get exposed. Swimming here can be dangerous because of rip currents so be careful if you want to play in the water.
There are free parking spots along Coast Boulevard and at Children’s Pool but they fill up fast. It’s possible to walk south from here along the bluff top to Whispering Sands Beach. This entire stretch of the La Jolla shoreline is excellent for watching and photographing sunsets.
