Hospital Beach, aka “Hospitals,” is located along Coast Boulevard in La Jolla. There is a narrow grass strip on the bluff above this point called Coast Boulevard Park. Hospital Point is a rocky bluff with small pockets of sand and not your typical sandy beach like La Jolla Shores. Just a few steps north of Hospitals there is a small sandy beach called Wipeout Beach. At Hospital Beach during low tides you’ll find more sand and some excellent tide pools that get exposed. When the tide is up you should pitch your towel up on the flat spots on the bluff or in the park. This is a popular spot for divers and snorkelers. Hospital Beach gets its name from the building nearby on Coast Blvd that used to house mostly medical and pharma businesses.
