About Belmont Shore Beach in Long Beach, California
Belmont Shore Beach spans the waterfront of the Belmont Shore neighborhood in Long Beach, California. Here the sand is plentiful and, if the sun is shining, the beach can be busy. Belmont Shore has a pier to enjoy and it’s easy to go for a walk with a paved path and miles of shoreline.
Generally Belmont Shore Beach starts in the area around Belmont Pier area and extends south to about 55th Place. South of 55th is the Peninsula Neighborhood and Peninsula Beach. North of the pier is Long Beach City Beach (a.k.a. Junipero). All of these beaches run continuously if you want to walk at the water’s edge for a few miles.
If you’re hungry there’s a restaurant called Buoy’s on the Pier located at the end. It’s a pleasant walk out there and you’ll earn your calories. Too tired? The Belmont Brewing Company has a pub and restaurant near the entrance to the pier.
Near the Belmont Pier there are sand volleyball courts and behind the beach there’s a wide paved bike path. This path continues north all the way to the end of City Beach and a ride can be extended in various directions.
Belmont Veteran’s Memorial Pier (the official name) has splendid views even if you don’t venture all the way out. There are no surfers to watch as waves typically don’t crash on Belmont Shore Beach because of the Long Beach breakwaters. That’s a good thing if you want to go for a swim though.
The area around the Granada Boat Launch at Granada Avenue is called “Granada Beach” and is the location of Rosie’s Dog Beach, a small designated off-leash dog zone.
For parking, this beach has four large lots to choose from. Starting at the pier and going southward on Ocean Blvd you’ll find entrances at Termino Ave, Bennett Avenue, Granada Ave, La Verne Ave and Claremont Ave.

We were at this beach in May, so we were not in the cold water. There were however an amazing amount of wind and kite surfers to watch. Our family loved it.
