About Bonita Cove Park on Mission Bay in San Diego, California

Bonita Cove Park is on the Mission Bay side of the Mission Beach Peninsula in San Diego. It has large open grass areas with picnic tables and palm trees, flat sandy areas with volleyball courts and a huge play area for kids. Walking paths meander all about from the park. Lifeguards are on staff consistently from spring break through the month of October.

The beach here wraps all around Bonita Cove and Mariner’s Basin and terminates at Mariner’s Point Park, a fishing area with a small protected area of bird nesting habitat for the Least Tern.

Bonita Cove is across Mission Boulevard from the Belmont Park Amusement Park at Mission Beach.

To get to Bonita Cove, just drive to 3290 Mariners Way in San Diego (off West Mission Bay Drive) and you’ll find the large parking lots. A path called Bayside Walk begins at the parking lots and goes along the Peninsula to Mission Point Park (about a 1 mile walk each way).
