About Doran Beach in Bodega Bay, California

Doran Beach in Doran Regional Park is located along the spit at the entrance to Bodega Harbor from Bodega Bay. Doran Spit is a great place to view the bay, the harbor, and Bodega Head. There is a popular campground here and great day-use picnic areas too. The wide beach on the bay is about two miles long and makes a wonderful beach walking route. The harbor side beach is narrow, especially at high tide. All over the spit are trails that meander through the dunes for more walking options. Also nearby is the Bird Walk Trail if you want to do some bird-watching. Fishing is big in the park because of the boat launch, cleaning facilities, and jetties for casting from shore.

From Highway 1 in Bodega Bay, turn west onto Doran Beach Road and enter the park. Expect to pay upon entering if you plan to stay for a while (they allow 15 minutes free to drive the road and take in the view if you don’t stop and get out). Many parking lots await including one at the end of the spit past the campground.
