About McClures Beach in Inverness, California

McClures Beach is a remote beach on the northwest coastline of Point Reyes National Seashore. It is the last easy access beach on the western side of Tomales Point (Driftwood Beach is just north but has no access).

From the parking lot at the end of Pierce Point Road there is a wide hiking trail that descends for a little less than half a mile to the beach. There’s a small creek near the trail that pools at the beach and sometimes flows through it.

McClures Beach isn’t that long, so take time to explore the entire beach looking for driftwood and other beachcombing items. At low tide you’ll discover tidepools to investigate. Be careful near the waves here because the rip currents are fast and sneaker waves can knock you down. Never turn your back to the ocean.

For a longer hike, venture out on the Tomales Point Trail from the nearby trailhead. The walk along this trail has views across the broad ridge spine out over the ocean and back toward Tomales Bay.
