About Mountain Road Beach in Laguna Beach, California
Mountain Road Beach is down a steep stairway just west of the intersection of Mountain Road and South Coast Highway in Laguna Beach, California.
Next to the stairs there is a flat area called the Garden of Peace and Love. It has a bench, a stone statue, and some other interesting stuff to see. A lifeguard tower is fixed to the rocks at the bottom of the stairs.
The beach here is narrow so at high tide most of the sand will be wet. South of here the beach widens at Bluebird Beach in front of the Surf & Sand Resort buildings. A short walk north on the beach from the Mountain Road access leads to a rocky point where the Cress Street Beach stairway is.
Just offshore is Halfway Rock and beyond that on a clear day you can see all the way to Catalina Island (33 miles .
As for parking, there are angled meter parking spots on Mountain Road and more along the highway if those are taken.

Super small beach. we liked the little garden of love though.
The walk down to this beach is quite long but we think it’s well worth the climb back up. My husband’s knee hates stairs. It’s a beautiful section of beach with gorgeous rock formations. Beach is small though and you have to find a place between the rocks to put your chairs or towels. You could sit on the rocks i guess.
