About Rancho Rico Beach in Big Sur, California

Rancho Rico is a privately-owned ranch in the Big Sur area. Based on what we can see from aerial photos like those on Google Maps, Ranch Rico has one of the most beautiful beaches along this remote shoreline. The private road through Rancho Rico continues through the property all the way down to a terrace directly above the beach. From there a hiking trail drops down to the beach. The property has been used for weddings and private events in the past, but the owners have informed us that this is no longer the case.

There is no public access to this beach from their property period. The only access to this beach (public portion is below the mean high tide level) would be by boat and, unfortunately, there are no public boat launches in the area. Photos on the Facebook page for Rancho Rico, show that it is a fantastic beach. The photos on our website are taken outside the gated entrance to Rancho Rico which is located is on Highway 1 just north of the Big Sur Bakery & Restaurant. One of the best public beaches in Big Sur is Pfeiffer Beach and the entrance road is just north of Rancho Rico.
