About San Simeon City Beach in San Simeon, California

San Simeon Beach is the sandy beach that spans the waterfront of the town of San Simeon. Here you’ll find a collection of hotels and resorts that support visitors to nearby Hearst Castle and this area of the northern San Luis Obispo County coast.

The beach in the city is easily accessible but not that popular with passers by. However if you are staying in town it is worthwhile to walk to this beach and maybe even stay to watch the sunset. Walking paths meander in front of the hotels near the beach so you can walk the beach or the pathway.

Pico Creek reaches the Pacific at this beach creating a wide sandy area at the mouth of the creek at the north end. Birds can be seen on the lagoon where the creek backs up behind the beach.

A few public parking spaces are provided at the end of Pico Avenue. Another access is provided at the south end of the beach on Vista Del Mar Avenue where street parking spaces are available. From that access a hiking trail heads south into an open area that is part of Hearst San Simeon State Park. A little-known hidden sandy beach is below the bluff along this trail.
