About Table Rock Beach in Laguna Beach, California
Table Rock Beach is a locally-known tucked away beach in south Laguna Beach, California. This is an excellent sandy beach in a deep cove with homes high above. Rocks of all shapes and sizes exist near the center of the cove and there’s a massive cave at the back of the beach.
The main rock in the center of the beach is Table Rock which you can go out onto. It’s a great place to be during sunsets. In that area you’ll find tidepools when the tide rolls out.
Skimboarders love the shape of these waves and might be playing in the surf beside the rocks, but swimming can be dangerous in this cove as it has strong rip currents.
On the south end of Table Rock Beach there is an exposed rocky point that people climb over to access another hidden sandy beach known as Secret Cove. When surf’s up, waves can crash hard on the base of this point sending spray into the air. Stay of all the rocks at this beach during high surf. At Secret Cove there is a rock arch that is visible below a large house. At very low tides it’s possible to go through the arch to Totuava Beach, but that hidden beach is safer and easier to access from Thousand Steps Beach.
The entrance to Table Rock Beach is not on Coast Highway 1 so it’s difficult to stumble upon. To find the beach access entrance, turn west onto hard-to-see Table Rock Drive from the highway (the road to the east is Eagle Rock Way) and go one block to Bluff Drive where the entrance will be on the left side. From this entrance a long steep stairway heads down the bluff to the sand on the north end of the beach. Do not drive into the private area of Table Rock Drive. It’s actually best to park along the highway and walk to the beach access to avoid a citation. If you walk north to the end of Bluff Drive you’ll find the entrance to West Street Beach.
