The words “budget hotel” and “Laguna Beach” don’t exactly go together. After all, Laguna Beach, a popular celebrity hangout, is home to some five star resorts like Montage Laguna Beach, which can cost $900-$1500 per night for a suite alone.

And while you won’t find many hotels for under $200 a night in this luxurious beach city, they do exist – and they’re nicer than you might think. These are a few gems we discovered.

Art Hotel

Yelp

Located on N Coast Highway about a mile from the city center, Art Hotel offers a clean, comfortable stay in a quiet setting. Amenities are minimal but include free WiFi, an outdoor heated pool, flatscreen TVs, coffee makers, mini fridges and orange juice and pastries in the morning. Rooms rent for under $200 here (even during peak season), and you can sometimes get a King Room with an ocean view for $149.

Laguna Beach House

Yelp

The Laguna Beach House is located on the north side of town, just a short walk from the wonderful Heisler Park. The rates are generally $200 or less for most rooms, which is a great price for the location and quality of the rooms.

Yelp

If you stay at the Laguna Beach Inn, you’ll be right across the street from the beautiful Woods Cove Beach. The rooms, which rent for around $169 per night, are cozy and intimate without being too compact. The inn has an outdoor pool, a BBQ area, and is kid and dog-friendly.

Crescent Bay Inn

Yelp

For the price range (which is typically around $180), the Crescent Bay Inn has some luxe amenities. While the building doesn’t look like much from the outside, inside you’ll find plush rooms with rain showers, Smart TVs and Oxygen O2 bath products. Guests are treated to a free light breakfast daily, and the hotel is just a short walk from the beach.

Laguna Beach Lodge

Yelp

Laguna Beach Lodge is definitely a no-frills property, but it has everything you need for an enjoyable stay. The rooms are clean and comfortable, typically renting for around $150-$175 nightly. If you book, you’ll enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast, WiFi, an outdoor pool, a coffee maker, a mini fridge and air conditioning in your room. There’s also a local shuttle that will minimize your driving during your stay.

The Tides

Yelp

Located just three blocks from Main Beach, The Tides offers an affordable stay in paradise(usually around $200 per night), and the amenities go above and beyond what you’d expect to find at a budget hotel. Many of the rooms come with fully equipped kitchenettes, there’s a Keurig coffeemaker in each room, and the saltwater pool is perfect for a day of relaxation. There’s also an outdoor fireplace and gas grill in case you’d like to bring the party to you.

Most of the other hotels in town rent for $250-$400 per night, so these budget-friendly Laguna Beach hotels can really save you some cash. But if you don’t mind the splurge, here’s a list of some of Laguna Beach’s best beach hotels.
