About Lompoc
Perhaps best known as the home of Vandenberg Air Force Base, the small City of Lompoc also offers a beautiful destination for travelers. Famous for its annual Flower Festival, this community includes close proximity to unique beaches. Jalama Beach County Park is about a 45-minute drive outside Lompoc, popular with whale-watchers, as well as surfers and fishermen. Surf Beach is another popular spot, but be warned the ocean waves are quite strong in the area. Ocean Beach Park sometimes closes for an entirely different reason; to protect the nesting season of a tiny bird, called the Western Snowy Plover.
