About Manhattan County Beach in Manhattan Beach, California
Manhattan Beach (the beach) is the main beach of the city of Manhattan Beach in Los Angeles County. It’s a popular beach that becomes a madhouse on weekends especially in the summer and during beach events near Manhattan Pier . At other times, its vastness makes this beach an excellent sunbathing spot.
This two-mile long wide sandy flat beach is between Hermosa Beach and El Porto Beach. Just north of Manhattan Beach is historic Bruce’s Beach Park, a frequent topic in Los Angeles news.
Like the neighboring beaches, volleyball is big here. As many as 100 sand volleyball courts are available to be netted up and enjoyed on Manhattan Beach. LA County lifeguard stations are spaced out along the beach. Behind the beach is a busy 22-mile long paved path called the Marvin Braude Bike Trail that connects to Santa Monica and Torrance.
If you visit this beach, you must walk out on Manhattan Beach Pier to see the area. Surfers might be putting their skills to the test on waves that break near the pier. The Roundhouse Marine Studies Lab and Aquarium is at the end of the pier and is open to the public daily (2-7pm M-F, 10am-7pm Sat-Sun). Entrance to the aquarium is free and it’s wonderful for children.
To get to Manhattan County Beach, take Manhattan Beach Boulevard west all the way to the pier where there are several small parking lots. Metered street parking is available along Manhattan Avenue which runs north-south a block or so from the sand.

This is probably our favorite beach in the LA area. The pier is awesome and there are many restaurants nearby with outdoor seating.
