About Hopkins Marine Station Beach in Pacific Grove, California

There are two beaches on Point Cabrillo at Hopkins Marine Station in Pacific Grove, California. Unfortunately they are both located on private property that is owned by Stanford University and are therefore off-limits to the general public. However there is a seal colony that makes its home on the west side of the campus. This beach and the seals are visible from Ocean View Boulevard between Dewey Street and 1st Street.

To get to Hopkins Marine Station it is a short walk of about two blocks along the Monterey Peninsula Recreation Trail from the Monterey Bay Aquarium at the west end of Cannery Row in Monterey. The trail continues along Shoreline Park to gorgeous viewpoints in Pacific Grove. Parking is available along Ocean View Boulevard.

After checking out the seals, head over to Lover’s Point which offers a safe swimming beach and a park with facilities and rentals.
