About Mugu Beach in Malibu, California
Mugu Beach is just north of Mugu Rock in along Pacific Coast Highway in southern Ventura County. This is one of several beaches along a five-mile stretch of coastline in Point Mugu State Beach. The north boundary of Mugu Beach is shared with a Navy facility which is fenced off. At the far south end of Mugu Beach it is possible to scramble up to the old road path around Mugu Rock where there is a man-made rock arch in the surf. This is a frequently photographed spot, but be careful as waves at this location have swept many people to their deaths. A fence and signs strongly discourage going around to the arch. Not far from Mugu Beach along Pacific Coast Highway there is a trailhead parking lot for hiking trails that lead into the northern end of the Santa Monica Mountains.
