About Dan Blocker County Beach in Malibu, California

Dan Blocker Beach in Malibu is a long narrow beach below Pacific Coast Highway between the Latigo Shores neighborhood and the homes along Malibu Road. This public land is owned and operated by Los Angeles County and used to be known as Corral State Beach.

There are a few homes grouped together at the center of the beach where Solstice Canyon hits the coast. A hiking trailhead for Solstice Canyon can be found up the road above these homes (up Corral Canyon Rd).

This south-facing beach is pretty plain, yet it still attracts visitors who scramble down the bluff to lay a towel on the sand. PCH runs the full length of the beach and is very close. Lifeguards are on hand during the summer months.

Parking along the shoulder of Pacific Coast Highway is the best option for Dan Blocker County Beach. There is also a small pubic lot at the west end with restrooms and picnic tables, but beach access is difficult from there. Another option is a public lot for Corral Canyon Park (part of Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area) which is adjacent to Malibu Seafood Fresh Fish Market and Patio Cafe. This small parking lot, known as Sara Wan Trailhead, is the access for Corral Canyon Tail, a 2.5 mile long loop hike. More importantly this lot has a pedestrian underpass that goes under PCH to the beach.

Also across PCH from Dan Blocker Beach is Malibu Beach RV Park a campground for RV’s and tent campers.
