About Goat Harbor on Catalina Island in Avalon, California

Goat Harbor Beach on Santa Catalina Island is a boat-in only camping spot. Goat Harbor is located on the northeast side of the island about mid-way between the towns of Avalon and Two Harbors. You can only get there by kayaking or boating from one of those towns.

Sea kayaks can be rented in Avalon or Two Harbors and there are numerous other beaches for resting along this shoreline making it a safe route.

There are no toilets in Goat Harbor and you’ll have to bring in your own drinking water. Due to dry vegetation all around, camp fires are not allowed.

Reservations are required to camp at Goat Harbor and there are other things you need to know before boat-in camping on the island.

Any trip to  starts with a ride on the Catalina Express ferry which departs the mainland in Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Dana Point.

WE use to camp there, when I lived on the Island back in 1954, when there were Goats on the Island.

Very peaceful place to be.
