About Campland on the Bay in San Diego, California

Campland on the Bay is a resort campground and marina on Mission Bay in San Diego. This RV and tent campground is on land that has been leased from the City of San Diego since the 1960’s. Since then it has been upgraded many times to become the current family-friendly facility it is.

There are too many amenities to list here, but their website describes it all. Campland Cantina Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily. Rentals are available for biking and getting out on the water. In the summer live bands perform on weekends on the Campland stage.

The beach at Campland is a small sandy spot with a safe roped off swimming area. Contrary to popular belief (and bogus signs that have been removed) this is a public beach.

Mission Beach is nearby as are many sandy beach parks on Mission Bay.

Next to Campland is Kendall Frost Mission Bay Reserve and Northern Wildlife Preserve a popular bird-watching habitat. Nearby are two public beaches with free parking and nice day-use facilities, De Anza Cove and Crown Point Park.

If you plan to visit Campland, see their website for current rates and reservations.
