About Long Point Beach on Catalina Island in Avalon, California

Long Point Beach is a boat-in beach and campground on Catalina Island. This beach faces northeast and is shaded by a high rock wall called Long Point.

The only way into this beach is by boat or kayak. Kayaks can be rented nearby in Avalon or Two Harbors, but Long Point Beach is a little closer to Avalon.

There are no toilets at this camp spot and potable water isn’t provided either so plan on bringing what you need for the entire stay. Camp stoves are allowed but open fires are not.

Reservations are required to camp at Long Point or any of the other boat-in camps on the north shore. Learn more about boat-in camping on Catalina.

Diving is popular at an area called Pirates Cove next to Long Point Beach, but for campers it’s easier to just pack snorkeling gear.

Getting to the island is quick and easy. Just hop a Catalina Express boat in Los Angeles, Long Beach, or Dana Point and enjoy a one-hour trip each way.
